Senior Citizen Welfare and Well Being
According to the 2011 Census, there are nearly 104 million elderly persons (aged 60 years or above) in India; 53 million females and 51 million males. With the changing family dynamics and poor retirement planning, many senior citizens are pushed to poverty. They also lack access to proper medical support. BWDA started this initiative to create awareness of senior citizen well-being, proper retirement planning, and to create support structures for senior citizens in operational areas. BWDA also honors senior citizens aged 80 and above to acknowledge their contribution to their families and society. BWDA has honored 1356 senior citizens and holds a Unique World Record for honoring the most number of senior citizens aged 80 and above.
Through this program, BWDA seeks to establish the required support structures for our senior citizens who lack the ability to do so. BWDA also plans to create awareness amongst youth on retirement planning. BWDA also honours senior citizens aged 80 and above to acknowledge their contribution to their families and society. To date 2997 senior citizens have been honoured.
