Capacity Building and Livelihood Development

BWDA’s capacity building and livelihood development program in line with four UN SDGs. The program equips low-income households with the skills required to set up their own micro-enterprises or seek suitable employment.

Capacity Building

BWDA organizes and imparts training on SHG management, SHG member orientation, financial literacy, adolescent girl’s health, general health & sanitation, community sanitation, HIV/AIDS prevention, disaster management, savings & thrift, EDP, REDP, skill training, etc. to SHG members, animators & representatives and PLF leaders for the sustainable development and empowerment of the community. BWDA also organizes exposure visits. These trainings are organized with the support of various institutional partners like Rabo Bank Foundation, Cordaid, SIDBI, ISMW, NABARD, Water.org, Childline Programme, RUHSA, TNVHA, etc.,

BWDA also organizes skill and livelihood development programs to enable SHG members to become entrepreneurs. Training areas include – welding, block & pathic printing, coir, gem cutting, tailoring, ready-made garments, saree embroidering, simple chemicals, driving, coconut fiber & jute bag making, milk-based products & dairy, computers, beautician & saloon maintenance, saree painting & printing, seashell products, nursery & vermiculture, screen printing, glass painting, mobile repairing, chappal making, soft toys making, coil rewinding, artificial jewelry making, food processing, artificial flower making, fish processing, bakery products, and animal health promotion.

Credit Linkage & Marketing Support

BWDA offers credit linkage to facilitate microenterprise development and livelihoods. The capacity building complemented with credit enables members to establish sustainable livelihoods and improve their standard of living. BWDA offers marketing support for SHG enterprises by organising marketing support exhibitions for the sales promotion of SHG products in its adopted areas. Marketing trainings and workshops to SHG members, leaders and staff of BWDA with the support of NABARD, Rabo Bank Foundation, Cordaid, Deutsche Bank and SIDBI enable promotion of SHGs products.

Achirappakkam Multipurpose Centre: With the support of Rabo Bank Foundation BWDA has constructed a Multi-Purpose Centre at Achirapakkam, Kancheepuram District. The center has 12 shops, 13 rooms, and two halls are available.
